Cultural icon, Grammy award winner and UN Goodwill Ambassador Youssou N’Dour and friends are among the stars set to align for this historic evening of entertainment, music and boxing, all in the name of charity. ![]() Activists, philanthropists and African Heads of State are expected to attend our landmark event as part of this important week with special focus on Africa highlighted by the 63rd UN General Assembly and the Clinton Global Initiative. With a skillful combination punch of top-caliber boxing, music and comedy, KnockOut Poverty will feature Africa’s best homegrown boxing talent with fighters lacing up the gloves as part of a jam-packed card of sanctioned bouts. In between the ring action, superstars including Youssou Ndour and some surprise musical legends will hit the stage to deliver their own one-two punch of entertainment and music. "Our primary goal with ‘KnockOut Poverty’ is to create a signature event that entertains, but more importantly has the power to bring people together for a much grander purpose", said Bruce Wrobel, All For Africa’s Executive Director. We’re hopeful this evolves into an annual New York happening. Proceeds from KnockOut Poverty will support the non-profit organization All For Africa and its various initiatives, designed to create opportunities for sustainable employment and economic opportunity throughout Africa. Most recently, All For Africa announced plans to fund and create hundreds of small, distinct oil palm plantations to be held in trust for villages, schools, clinics as well as non-governmental organizations.
