Palm Out Poverty Campaign

December 12, 2007: All for Africa is pleased to announce the beginning of its 2008 –2009 “Palm Out Poverty Campaign”. All for Africa’s goal under this campaign is to create approximately 700 small, distinct oil palm plantations to be held in trust for villages, schools, clinics as well as specific non-governmental organizations. Since the oil palm will produce commercial quantities of oil for approximately 30 years the income derived from the sale of both crude palm oil and palm kernel oil can be used to fund community initiatives on a long term sustainable basis.

Under the “Palm Out Poverty Campaign” All for Africa intends to provide the seeds, fertilizer and expertise necessary to plant one million high yielding oil palm trees throughout several target countries in Sub Saharan Africa. The trees will be planted within approximately 700 small plantations of approximately 25 acres in size each consisting of approximately 1500 trees. Each plantation will be held in trust by All for Africa on behalf of a specific worthy beneficiary.

Once mature, after approximately three years, each plantation is expected to produce over 300 barrels of crude palm oil and 75 barrels of food quality palm kernel oil each year for approximately 30 years. All for Africa will secure long term markets for the crude palm oil for conversion into bio diesel fuel and the food grade palm oil into the food market. At today’s prices each plantation would generate more than $30,000 of revenue each year. Cumulatively, All for Africa’s 2008-2009 campaign would generate annual revenues of more than $20,000,000 each year or more than $600,000,000 over the life of the plantations.

In addition to the production of palm oil each plantation will also absorb approximately 40,000 lbs of carbon dioxide each year. In total, the 700 targeted plantations will absorb more than 28,000,000 lbs of carbon dioxide each year, a significant benefit to those concerned about the potential for climate change.

The cost of seed, fertilizer, planting and ongoing care over the initial three year period is approximately $10 per tree. All for Africa’s “Palm Out Poverty Campaign” for 2008- 2009 will require approximately $10,000,000. But every $10 brings us one tree closer to meeting its goal of creating a sustainable and renewable source of funds for economic development in Africa. With every contribution of $500 or more All for Africa will provide a certificate indicating the location of the specific trees planted as well as information regarding the beneficiary of the oil revenues.

Please help us “Palm Out Poverty” in a carbon friendly way!
